New ACE school principals announced
0There will be new school leaders at the helm of the district’s ACE campuses next school year. The following administrators have been named to serve at the listed ACE campuses beginning next August. Additionally, two veteran principals have been promoted to executive director in School Leadership. Juan Cordoba, principal of TJ Rusk Middle School, and Damien Stovall, principal of Edward Titche Elementary, will assume their new posts effective May 19. 0The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees acknowledges and accepts the resignation delivered today from Chief Auditor Otis Steven Martin. We cannot comment on the personal motivations of Mr. Martin for this decision. Mr. Martin became the Chief of Internal Audit in January 2019 and reported solely to the Board, which has sole authority over the Internal Audit function. More than two years ago and prior to Mr. Martin’s hiring, the district discovered potential overpayments made by the District to outside vendors for construction projects completed in 2015 and 2016. District leaders provide update on efforts to increase safety at schools and facilities
0A clear bag policy at sporting events, increased safety audits at schools, and campus threat assessment teams that recognize and potentially intervene with students identified as possible threats to themselves or others are among new measures being adopted in Dallas ISD to safeguard students. District leaders briefed trustees Feb. 11 about these and other efforts to increase safety at district schools and facilities. Three Dallas ISD schools nominated for National Blue Ribbon honors
0Three Dallas ISD schools are among only 26 in Texas nominated for the 2020 National Blue Ribbon School award. Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Early College High School, and Edward Titche Elementary School are the district nominees. The U.S. Department of Education awards the Blue Ribbon recognition to schools where students perform at very high levels or where exemplary progress is being made toward closing achievement gaps.
