Héctor Samuel Castro Ortiz has always wanted to express himself through his work, and that’s what he’s learning to do at Career Institute (CI) North. He’s a freshman at Conrad High School and is enrolled in the Construction and Carpentry pathway, one of several programs offered by Dallas ISD’s career institutes. The district manages three career institutes, each linked to a traditional Dallas ISD high school. “How do you think Dr. King’s teachings can help us today?” That is the question eight Dallas ISD fourth and fifth graders will answer on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth date as they contend in the finals of the 29th annual MLK Oratory Competition. As Dallas ISD moves into the new school year, the Parent Service Department is excited to announce that effective Jan. 26, 2021, parents will be able to view and/or download the first Truancy Warning Notice through the Parent Resource Center. To access the Truancy Warning Notice, click here. The new Montessori Dual Language schools is now accepting applications for students entering pre-K, kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade next school year.  Families can apply by visiting www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd and filling out the online application.
