A total of 40 fourth- and fifth-grade students at James Bowie Elementary will be featured on the national TV game show “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?” in June. The show’s producers contacted the Bowie Elementary principal after the school gained recognition as one of six schools nationally, and the only school in Texas, to receive the Gold National Healthy Schools Award at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation 2014 Leaders Summit. When asked what they’d like to pursue, most students will announce big aspirations of becoming a doctor, lawyer, or, perhaps, the President of the United States. With more than 200 pathways, Dallas ISD has established programs to help students get a step closer to whatever it is they hope to become someday.
