However, as school districts today develop more rigorous, engaging and relevant curriculums, middle school students like those in Dee Coyle’s eighth-grade business/marketing/finance class this past school year learned how to run a business. Listening to classical sounds on music station WRR-FM 101.1 and the different types of instrumentation coming through the airwaves sculpted Quinn Mason, a recent graduate at North Dallas High School, into the accomplished musician he is today. “The variance in beats and soundscape of live instruments (on WRR-FM) is what intrigued me the most from the other stations, ” he said. Dallas ISD is holding a job fair this Saturday, June 20, for custodial and cafeteria positions. The job fair is scheduled for 8 a.m.–1 p.m. at Emmett J. Conrad High School, 7502 Fair Oaks Ave. The district will offer some candidates on the spot job offers at the event. See the below poster for more information.
Summer winds are blowing again for students across the district. The Dallas Winds Symphony conducted a weeklong band camp for Dallas ISD students. Nearly 600 middle and high school band systems filled Booker T Washington High School to improve their musical skills and learn from Dallas’ finest. With live performances by district band directors and workshops led by top area conductors, Dallas Winds Band Camp was an upbeat for teachers and students alike.
