Magnet schools accepting applications for 2017-2018 school year
0Dallas ISD is home to some of the nation’s top magnet schools. Students interested in attending one of these schools for the 2017-2018 school year can submit applications through January 31. There are programs for every age level covering a variety of interests. The magnet program includes vanguards and Montessori for elementary students, academies for middle school students and magnets for high school students. For a complete list of schools and programs, visit the magnet school website. The requirements to attend magnet programs vary by school. Applications can be found online. The deadline to apply is January 31.
Donation brings more than $100,000 in new technology to schools in Roosevelt feeder pattern
0Ruel Hamilton, CEO and founder of AmeriSouth Realty, has donated more than $100,000 to support campuses in the Roosevelt High School feeder pattern. The donation will help upgrade technology at the schools. On Tuesday, Dec. 13, Roosevelt High School hosted an event to demonstrate some of the new technology and to thank Hamilton for his generous donation. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and Trustee Lew Blackburn were among those in attendance. Dallas ISD makes AP District Honor Roll list with significant gains in student access, success
0The Dallas Independent School District is one of 433 school districts in the U.S. and Canada being honored by the College Board with placement on the 7th Annual AP® District Honor Roll. To be included on the 7th Annual Honor Roll, Dallas ISD had to, since 2014, increase the number of students participating in AP while also increasing or maintaining the percentage of students earning AP Exam scores of 3 or higher. Dallas Cowboys Brandon Carr shares love of literacy and favorite book with students
0It was an intimate setting, and a time for Brandon Carr to chat with a handful of Dallas ISD students from Frank Guzick Elementary and Skyline High schools about reading. Little hands immediately went in the air in hopes that Carr would see. He obliges one. “Did y’all lose last night?” said a second-grader. It appeared the hardest question Carr would face in front of a dozen students was out of the way. But much like his poise on the field during adverse situations, Carr took it in stride.
