0A teenager and his younger sister have spearheaded a project that has donated 1,000 trophies to 10 Dallas ISD schools to reward students for everything from academics to athletics. Adam Klein, now a high school student, was cleaning out his room in 2013 when he decided it was time to get rid of his seven trophies. After some brainstorming, he reached out to a few Dallas ISD schools to see if they would be interested in them. District to expand successful ACE program next school year
0Dallas ISD is expanding an initiative that helps boost student achievement by staffing the highest-need schools with high-performing principals and teachers. The district launched the ACE program, which stands for Accelerating Campus Excellence, last school year at seven historically low-performing schools. After just one year, six of those schools met state standards this year, and all seven campuses have shown significant improvement in student achievement. Trustees consider phase 2 bond projects at February briefing
0District trustees were briefed Thursday on a recommendation to proceed with phase 2 of the district’s $1.6 billion 2015 bond program. At Thursday’s board briefing, Operations Chief Scott Layne recommended a list of 23 school renovation projects for phase 2 that he said are among the district’s most critical infrastructure needs. The list includes seven high schools receiving renovations required to meet state requirements for implementation of career and technical programs. Counseling teams at 12 schools receive 2016 Lone Star State Award
0The Lone Star State School Counseling Association (LSSSCA) recently recognized 12 Dallas ISD schools for receiving the 2016 Lone Star State Award. On Tuesday, Jan. 24, LSSSCA recognized 37 schools around the state of Texas for implementing outstanding school counseling programs. Counselors in the selected schools exhibited excellence in advocacy, leadership, collaboration, and systemic change as supported by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. The Lone Star Award is designed to prepare Texas school counselors for the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) award.
