Dallas ISD P-TECH Industry Partner Spotlight: PepsiCo and Frito-Lay
0As an industry partner with the South Oak Cliff High School P-TECH, PepsiCo and Frito-Lay are showing students great potential opportunities available to them after high school. PepsiCo and Frito-Lay have developed and implemented programming with the SOC P-TECH that covers careers, college, communication, leadership, collaboration, time management, public speaking, resumes and interviewing. PepsiCo and Frito-Lay have hosted college and career fairs where more than 150 associates mentored 300 students by sharing their college experiences. Dallas ISD among finalists for H-E-B’s statewide education award
0H‑E‑B chose Dallas ISD as a finalist for the statewide 2020 H-E-B Excellence in Education District Awards. For the last 19 years, the supermarket chain based in San Antonio has honored outstanding professionals from Texas public schools. Eight school districts and five early childhood facilities have been selected as finalists for the retailer’s 19th-annual Excellence in Education Awards program. To determine overall statewide winners, a panel of judges visits each district, early childhood facility and school board, tours campuses and talks with administration, staff, parents and community members. District rolls out coronavirus information for parents and staff
0Dallas ISD is monitoring the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, and working with national and local health authorities to provide the latest information to families and staff. While no cases have yet been reported in Dallas, the district is taking measures to inform the community about the progression of the illness. A website with frequently asked questions and links to information resources is available at www.dallasisd.org/healthupdates, and letters are being distributed to campuses to send home with students. Teachers who “go the extra mile” can earn cash prizes for their great work
0The Rotary Club of Dallas invites nominations from all district schools for its annual Service Above Self Teacher Awards. The award provides an opportunity to publicly applaud Dallas ISD teachers and to reward those who have demonstrated excellence in their profession by “going the extra mile.” Applications may be submitted by Dallas ISD teachers on their own behalf or by other individuals on behalf of a teacher. Winning recipients each receive a customized engraved plaque and a cash award from the Rotary Club of Dallas. April 29 is the application deadline.
