School board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools and serve as a link between the community and classroom. Trustees serve as unpaid volunteers. Dallas ISD is partnering with an HBCU to open a new secondary IB school
0The new Dallas ISD school operating in partnership with Paul Quinn College is now accepting applications for students entering sixth- and seventh-grade next school year. Families can apply by visiting www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd and filling out the online application. A partnership with Paul Quinn College will provide rigorous programs and more school choice options for Southern Dallas students. The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees approved an agreement on Nov. 19 to open a new 6th-to-12th campus, which will operate under the International Baccalaureate model (IB), at Paul Quinn College. Board approves pay incentive for substitutes
0The Board of Trustees has approved a daily incentive for substitutes to address lower substitute fill rates that are a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The additional $20 daily incentive is designed to increase fill rates and provide support to campuses during the spring semester. The $20-per-day incentive will be paid on top of any other incentives for substitutes. Substitutes will continue to receive the additional incentive of $5 for working on Mondays and $10 for working on Fridays. Substitutes working a full day of service at an ACE campus will also continue to receive the ACE $10-per-day incentive.…
Dallas ISD partners with UNT Dallas to recruit more males of color as teachers
0Dallas ISD is partnering with the University of North Texas Dallas in effort to recruit more males of color to teaching as a profession. UNTD’s initiatives in this area includes the UNTD School of Education’s THRIVE (Teach Hope Respond Inspire Value and Empower), as well as a recent partnership with Call Me Mister, a 20-year-old national program started by Dr. Roy Jones at Clemson University.
