The on-time bus arrival rate increased to 95 percent by the end of the school year, according to a report shared with Dallas ISD trustees on June 13. Dallas ISD started running its own transportation system for the first time this past school year after Dallas County residents voted to dissolve Dallas County Schools (DCS), the taxpayer-funded agency that Dallas ISD contracted with to bus students. Trinity Heights School for the Talented and Gifted and Mark Twain School for the Talented and Gifted will  cater to students who need a challenging academic environment to reach their full potential. The City of Dallas is partnering with Dallas ISD to provide free summer activities for local children. Send a Kid to Camp is a free summer program for children ages 6–14. The programs is managed by the city’s Park and Recreation Department. The Send a Kid to Camp program will take place at 15 Dallas ISD campuses every Monday–Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. The children will be fed breakfast and lunch every day and go on several engaging field trips. Dozens of Dallas ISD principals from Southern Dallas schools gathered at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy on Tuesday for an end-of-the-year retreat. Twenty-four Dallas ISD students are studying abroad this summer with CIEE after earning a total of $136,050 in financial aid. High school students across the nation compete for the Global Navigator scholarships.
