In the Dallas ISD distance learning model, students and parents can expect an established daily routine that will present both guided learning and independent learning opportunities.  Guided learning will be presented through a variety of options such as: Teacher-directed lessons via video conferencing. Bajo la resolución propuesta, los estudiantes que elijan el aprendizaje a distancia este año aún pueden participar en todas las actividades extracurriculares, complementarias y cursos electivos en el plantel que requieren instrucción presencial y supervisión. The proposed package includes 5 ballot propositions aimed at: Funding technology improvements to enhance internet connectivity for students and teachers. Under a proposed resolution, students who choose distance learning this school year could still participate at the campus in all extracurricular activities, co-curricular activities and elective courses requiring in-person instruction and supervision. The resolution up for consideration would designate certain times and days for distance learning students to participate in those activities at the campus. Transportation may be provided for some on-campus participation options. A cross-divisional planning committee and feedback from parents, teachers, principals and stakeholders led to the recommendation. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa told trustees during the Aug 13 board briefing that Dallas ISD will follow the guidance of the Dallas County Heath and Human Services (DCHHS) in deciding whether to start the school year on Sept. 8 by only offering distance learning or offering the choice of distance or on-campus learning.
