Dallas ISD is recruiting current eighth-graders interested in attending a Career Institute next school year. At a Career Institute, students can develop and grow in-demand skills they need to secure a good-wage job in the near future. Interested students can simply fill out this form and the information will be sent to their counselor. More than 800 current freshmen this school year are enrolled in a Career Institute program. In celebration of School Board Recognition Month, we are spotlighting the nine dedicated unpaid volunteers who serve as Dallas ISD trustees. At the age of 27, Miguel Solis was elected to the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees in 2013 and has since been re-elected twice. He recently announced he will not seek reelection for his District 8 seat, which represents Love Field, Northwest Dallas and Central Dallas.  During his tenure on the board, Solis has served as President and Vice-President, making him the youngest ever to hold these positions. Dallas ISD ampliará el programa ACE a ocho escuelas para el año escolar 2020- 2021. El programa ofrece incentivos a los maestros y directores más sobresalientes para que ejerzan en las escuelas más necesitadas, y así los mejores educadores estén donde más se les necesita. Dallas ISD will expand its Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) program to eight additional campuses for the 2020-2021 school year. This initiative incentivizes top teachers and principals to voluntarily work at the district’s highest-need schools, ensuring the best educators are in classrooms where they are needed the most. Since its inception in 2015, ACE schools have shown a continuous improvement by combining effective instruction, additional learning time, and social and academic skill-building. Luego de los tornados del pasado 20 de octubre que causaron daños extensos en varios de nuestros planteles, los representantes de la Junta Escolar de Dallas ISD aprobaron de forma unánime un plan para renovar Thomas Jefferson High School, y construir un nuevo plantel de prekínder a octavo grado que reemplazará a Walnut Hill Elementary School y Cary Middle School. La meta es que los estudiantes asistan a dichas escuelas para el año escolar 2022-2023.
