Returning and New Dallas ISD students entering pre-k through 12th grade are now able to register for the upcoming school year. Parents of future pre-k students should visit: www.dallasisd.org/prek. Current and returning students can complete their enrollment online through the Parent Portal system, found at www.dallasisd.org/enrollment. Meanwhile, new students are encouraged to contact their attendance boundary school or contact the ONE Centers at 972-925-5560 or enroll@dallasisd.org. El día que cumplió 11 años, Rafael Martínez, estudiante de 12o grado en Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship Academy, fue diagnosticado con una condición ocular que causa pérdida de la visión. Hoy en día, la enfermedad de Stargardt afecta en gran medida su visión central, aunque su visión periférica sigue siendo más fuerte. A pesar de ello, Martínez ha tenido éxito en la preparatoria, y este año se desempeñó de tambor mayor de la banda de marcha de Wilmer-Hutchins High School. On his eleventh birthday, IDEA senior Rafael Martinez was diagnosed with an eye disorder that causes vision loss. The condition, which is called Stargardt, today severely impacts his central vision, while his peripheral vision is stronger. Despite the obstacle, Martinez has thrived in school and this year served as drum major for the band at Wilmer-Hutchins High School. Dallas ISD seguirá ofreciendo el servicio de comidas para llevar en junio y probablemente también en julio. Las comidas están disponibles para todos los niños hasta la edad de 18, y de 19 si el niño los cumple durante el año escolar en curso (a partir del primer día de clases), y para estudiantes con discapacidades, independientemente de su edad. The 2019-2020 school year is officially coming to a close, but in Dallas ISD, learning is a year round practice. This school year has challenged the Special Education Department, families, and students to think differently and look for improved systems for learning.  From working with new leadership in the department to shifting to At-Home Learning (AHL) and teletherapy; from discussing the installation of cameras in all special education classrooms, to working with parents on virtual Parent Academies.
