Thursday, September 11, 2014 marks the 13-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in suburban Pennsylvania. Patriot Day serves as a remembrance of the lives lost on that September morning. On Patriot Day, the President directs that the American flag be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad.

On average, Dallas ISD teacher salaries are well above those of other school districts both in the metroplex and across the state. In 2014-2015, along with some central, maintenance and security staff, teachers will receive a three percent increase in lieu of a step increase. Salary increase Other staff members including principals, academic coordinators, academic facilitators, and instructional coaches will receive a raise based on a revised pay scale to be applied to their positions. More than 80 United Way volunteers from TXU, Energy Future Holdings and Luminant performed 15 different science experiments on Sept. 3 with 4th and 5th grade children at Julian T. Michael Latorre-Quevedo is one of the more than 900 teachers new to the area, among 2,000 teachers overall, hired in the district this school year. The Dallas television market just gained a new voice with the launch of the School of Business and Management’s video broadcast venture, WSBM: The Face of Townview. The program was developed as a “sister team” to KSBM Radio: The Voice of Townview, which began broadcasting over the internet on the Fishbowl Radio Network last school year.
