Trustee Ben Mackey served as principal of Dallas ISD’s School for the Talented and Gifted from 2013 to 2019. During those years, U.S. News and World Report named the school, also known as the TAG magnet, the nation’s top high school for four years. Trustee Karla Garcia is a proud native of Southeast Dallas and a product of Dallas ISD schools. Garcia was inspired to run for Dallas ISD District 4 trustee because she wanted to address the inequities that she saw in the public school system, particularly in Southeast Dallas. Dan Micciche was first elected to the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees in 2012 to serve District 3, which covers Northeast Dallas. Voters reelected him in 2015 and 2018, and he currently serves as 1st Vice President. In addition to serving as a trustee, Micciche is a partner at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld.
