Dallas ISD culinary students add flavor to this year’s Taste of Dallas
0This weekend at Fair Park, many of the top Dallas restaurants will sell samples of their wares at the Taste of Dallas, a culinary showcase of flavors and foods of all types and descriptions. And among the established culinary artists and restaurateurs will be a younger group of chefs: students from two of Dallas ISD’s culinary arts programs. Partnership trains new teachers, increases summer learning options for students
0Teach For America (TFA), Dallas ISD, Momentous Institute, and Southern Methodist University’s Simmons School of Education and Human Development have formed a partnership to train new teachers and to expand summer learning opportunities for Dallas students through the Teach For America DFW Summer Institute, which begins this week. Dallas ISD covers tuition for 150 teachers to attend SMU teacher academy (video)
0More than 150 Dallas ISD teachers will attend a professional development training this summer at the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education at Southern Methodist University. Approximately 245 Dallas ISD teachers applied for the opportunity to attend the training happening at SMU July 20–Aug. 6. Dallas ISD partnered with SMU to design the program. Dallas ISD will cover the $3,000 per teacher tuition. The curriculum will focus on increasing classroom effectiveness and improving classroom instructional practice.
