Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg surprised students from the School for the Talented and Gifted and South Oak Cliff High School Collegiate Academy as they performed a service project over the weekend. Application window open for Dallas ISD collegiate academies
0The application window is open for current eighth-graders interested in attending a Dallas ISD collegiate academy. Students who attend a collegiate academy can earn up to 60 hours of college credit or an associate degree—at no cost to them—concurrently while earning a high school diploma. Dallas ISD launched seven collegiate academies and a P-TECH at existing high schools this school year. Three Dallas ISD schools nominated for Blue Ribbon status
0Three Dallas ISD schools have been nominated for the national 2017 Blue Ribbon Schools award. The middle schools at both Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy (BOMLA) and Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, as well as the Dallas Environmental Science Academy (DESA), are the Dallas ISD nominees. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced that 26 Texas public schools have received nominations. The prestigious award is a program of the U.S. Department of Education and recognizes exemplary schools where students are performing at high levels. Students to honor MLK Jr.’s legacy at finals of annual oratory competition (video)
0The Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition is designed to highlight the cultural diversity of the community while recognizing and encouraging the writing and presentation skills of Dallas ISD students. The eight Dallas ISD finalists will compete in the finals on Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m–12:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre downtown Dallas.
