Now recruiting: eighth-graders who want to prepare for high-demand, high-wage trades
0With the launch of two career institutes, Dallas ISD is expanding career options for highly motivated students who want to enter the construction trades and earn a living wage right out of high school. The institutes will launch in August to offer courses leading to certificates in construction, plumbing, electrical, and heating and air conditioning at locations in North Dallas and Oak Cliff. 0The Dallas ISD Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2019 will be celebrated at the induction ceremony Friday, April 26 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The induction list comprises five legendary former student-athletes, a prominent pair of girls’ basketball coaches, a former Major League Baseball hitting instructor and a longtime announcer. The nine inductees tapped for this year’s Hall of Fame are: Gary Blair, Doug English, Michael Ensley, Rudy Jaramillo, Harvey Martin, Roy “Robot” Martin, J.D. Dallas ISD turns attention to its ‘last frontier’: lifting school performance at middle schools
0After successfully growing high-quality pre-K for early learners and opening new collegiate academies for high school students, Dallas ISD is turning its attention to “the last frontier”: middle school. A new initiative would bring strategies proven to lift school performance–strategic staffing, instructional excellence, social and emotional support, extended learning and supportive partnerships–to 24 Dallas ISD middle schools. Importance of pre-k highlighted at donation supporting Dallas ISD early learning centers
0Arlington Park Early Childhood Center and N.W. Harllee Early Childhood Center are receiving a $45,000 foundation grant to enhance classroom areas, provide additional educational materials and the acquisition of family-home libraries. PNC Financial Services Group announced the grant in partnership with United Way Dallas during an April 4 event at Arlington Park Early Childhood Center.
