0An outstanding robotics team, a heroic coach and science teacher who helped save a child’s life, and a group of student app creators headed to Washington D.C. were recognized by the board of trustees on April 25 for their outstanding accomplishments. At the US Open National VEX Robotics Championship held in Iowa April 1-3, Casa View Elementary School won the Teamwork Champion Award, competing against 170 teams from all over the United States, Canada, and China. Dallas ISD celebrates Early College High School Week
0Dallas ISD opened the door to 18 collegiate academies in the fall of 2017. When the 2018–2019 school year ends, nearly 6,000 Dallas ISD high school students will go into the summer having earned college credit hours. These students are enrolled in one of the 23 early college high schools (ECHS) operated by Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), where students can earn up to 60 hours of college or an associate degree while still in high school. 0Summer time is around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to take a break and relax. This time of year is also the perfect time to enjoy fun-filled enrichment activities. Filling the summer with hands-on, enriching activities will not only keep students productively engaged, but will also help retain the academic learned during the school year. To help prevent summer loss, Dallas ISD is partnering with the city of Dallas, libraries and nonprofits throughout the city to offer hundreds of summer programs and enrichment opportunities for students of all ages. Dallas ISD awards $155,000 in Superintendent’s Scholarships to 62 graduating seniors
0Sixty-two graduating seniors in Dallas ISD’s Class of 2019 were recognized on Tuesday, April 16, with Superintendent’s Scholarships. Each honoree received $2,500 to go toward costs at the college or university of their choice. Selection for the Superintendent’s Scholarship Program is based on need, character, grades, recommendations and the promise of future success. The scholarships are funded with proceeds from the annual Superintendent’s Golf Tournament.
