Dallas ISD is bringing esports, which is competitive electronic gaming, to more than 60 schools this year as it looks to meet its goal of getting all students involved in an extracurricular activity. All graduating seniors who are American citizens are eligible to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or FAFSA). Trustees approve five-year contract extension for Superintendent Michael Hinojosa
0The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees Thursday night approved a five-year contract extension for Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. His contract will go through 2024. Hinojosa is a Sunset High School graduate who started his education career in 1979 at Stockard Middle School. He led Dallas ISD as superintendent from 2005–2011, and has served as the district’s leader since returning in 2015. Under Hinojosa’s leadership, Dallas ISD has dramatically reduced its number of low-performing schools and increased the school choice options for students. Dallas ISD this year earned a “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency with a score of 86.
Cheers, tears and hugs: Three Dallas ISD schools earn National Blue Ribbon School award
0Three Dallas ISD schools have earned the 2019 National Blue Ribbon School award, one of the highest honors for a campus. Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet School, Walnut Hill Elementary School and Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School are Blue Ribbon Schools. The U.S. Department of Education awards the Blue Ribbon recognition to schools where students perform at very high levels or where exemplary progress is being made toward closing achievement gaps.
