Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa will host three virtual meetings in May to share highlights of the Bond 2020 proposal and gather input from parents and the community. The meetings will also feature district Chief Financial Officer Dwayne Thompson presenting details of the 2020-2021 budget. Dallas ISD staff, parents and community are invited to register and participate. Registration is required to ensure the public receives an accurate link to attend the virtual meetings. The Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department continues to get national acclaim, most recently on a list ranking the top noncommercial food operators in the country. Foodservice Director, which is a national industry resource for noncommercial food operators, placed Dallas ISD at number 10 in its Top 100 ranking.  In order to provide the safest and most secure environment for our students, their families and staff, this year Dallas ISD will hold commencement ceremonies virtually beginning May 22. Efforts will be made to maintain as much of the traditional ceremony as possible. Hinojosa joins superintendents, districts nationwide urging Congress for additional funding for public schools

Today, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa joins the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS), the nation’s primary coalition of large urban public-school districts, urging Congress to approve new funding for local school systems in the next coronavirus supplemental appropriations bill. In a letter to Capitol Hill, the CGCS calls on an additional federal allocation of $175 billion in Educational Stabilization Funds to be distributed to the local level through the Title I formula.
