The Extended Learning Opportunities Department continues to expand student access in afterschool enrichment programs. Last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted traditional in-person enrichment programs, the ELO Department remained committed to creating no cost, no subscription, easy access platforms to ensure parents and student have access enrichment opportunities that are Engaging, Enriching, and Empowering. The ELO Department is ensuring that parents and students have access to quality enrichment resources throughout the pandemic. Dallas ISD senior Morgan Glover didn’t expect her senior year would happen in the middle of a pandemic, changing almost every aspect of her education experience. Glover, who attends the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, plans to study computer science at Southern Methodist University after she graduates. Dallas ISD invites the community to its April 12 Cultural Intelligence Town Hall, the third in a series of webinars aimed at engaging the community in conversation around how to create an anti-racist school community free of bias and racism and grounded in equity. The recent senseless tragedy in Georgia where individuals of Asian descent were targeted and killed raises the question, why is this happening and what will it take to stop the violence and hate. While Atlanta is hundreds of miles away, families in our area are still concerned.
