Students at Greiner and Anson Jones Elementary find success in reading and writing with a new program

Students at W.E. Greiner Exploratory Arts Academy and Anson Jones Elementary School are sharpening their reading and writing skills through a new learning program. Greiner and Jones Elementary are among a handful of Texas schools piloting the Amplify program, and campus leadership is already noticing gainful results. The program’s main focus is to improve students’ reading comprehension and sharpen their written communication skills, said Greiner Principal Yvonne Rojas. Robotics is back to in-person events, and Dallas ISD teams continue to excel! This year, six elementary and eight middle schools advanced to the VEX Robotics World Championship taking place May 3-12 at the Dallas Convention Center (see list below). Also, advancing to the FIRST Tech Challenge UIL State Championship, April 8-9, are: Irma Rangel’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Townview Science & Engineering Magnet, Emmett J. Conrad High School, Woodrow Wilson High School, and Sunset High School. Dallas ISD is offering FREE Spring Break Curbside Meals on March 14, 2022

No inclement weather makeup days needed: April 18 and April 29 will still be days off for students and campus staff

Although Dallas ISD schools were closed Feb. 24 and started late Feb. 25 due to icy weather, the district has sufficient instructional minutes in our current calendar to meet state requirements. April 18 and April 29, 2022, will remain days off for students and campus-based staff, while they will be regular work days for staff who work 226 days or more. These days are marked as inclement weather make-up days and are not scheduled to be utilized at this time.
