Dallas ISD teachers have access to more personalized lesson planning resources. Over the last year, the Teaching and Learning Division launched a digitally based professional development platform known as D-Tubes, Dallas ISD’s own video resource library. These videos provide teachers background and content knowledge on specific Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards to assist with their lesson plans. Assistant Superintendent Vicente R. Reyes says the content departments identified some key concepts for instructional specialists to highlight in the first round of videos. “Moving forward, we’re going to start using our Distinguished teachers and highlighting their work and what they’re doing to teach hard to teach standards,” Reyes said.…

The wind blowing through downtown Dallas on Wednesday, Nov. 11, didn’t slow down the hundreds of students participating in the 2015 Dallas Veterans Day Parade. This year’s theme was “Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II.” Seven World War II veterans were selected to serve as Grand Marshals. The small circular table appears like an island in a sea of books and literary materials in the library at Sarah Zumwalt Middle School. Its purpose is simple: to honor those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Officials from the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Ford Motor Company, City of Dallas and Dallas ISD helped celebrate Tim Brown Day on Friday, Nov. 6, with three events throughout the day. Brown won the Heisman Trophy while playing football at Notre Dame University, and went on to have a distinguished career for the Los Angeles Raiders in the NFL.
