Meanwhile, Digital Promise/Verizon Innovative Learning Schools provided all students at five other Dallas ISD schools with the opportunity to see the film. Samuell High School ECHS sophomore Israel Piña traces his love for teaching to an assignment where he created a lesson plan and taught a whole class. His dream is to work as an educator, put himself through law school and eventually become an immigration lawyer. Two Dallas ISD high schools will each receive $250,000 worth of support from IBM and AT&T to use AI or 5G connectivity to address real-world educational problems. The P-TECH students at Seagoville and Adamson high schools won the second round of the IBM EdTech Cities Challenge, which tasks students with proposing game-changing ideas. It’s Thursday morning, and J.L. Long Middle School dual language teacher Susan Moreno is noticeably stunned as an auditorium full of news cameras, students, Dallas ISD and state leaders suddenly turn their attention to her. Dallas ISD veteran educators joined together at the 47th Annual National Alliance of Black School Educators conference held in Dallas this week to share lessons learned throughout their careers as leaders in the field of education. Growing up in in Kansas City, Dallas ISD Assistant Superintendent Usamah Rodgers still remembers enjoying participating in the free after-school program at the Boys and Girls Club.
