Dallas ISD Racial Equity Office and Centralized Enrollment are hosting a series of Application Workshops at area libraries for families interested in applying to the district’s specialty schools. The first workshop was held Jan. 8 at the Dallas West Library. As he presented a $100,000 check donation to the Dallas Education Foundation to support Dallas ISD schools impacted by the Oct. 20 tornado, John Trevino, the vice president and general manager of KDAF-TV (CW-33), remarked how this donation was especially close to his heart. Two exciting new schools opening in August are now accepting applications! A new Dallas ISD Montessori school opening in Downtown Dallas and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Arts Academy will provide even more education options to area families. Dallas ISD encourages teachers and campus instructional coaches who aspire to be campus leaders to apply to one of the district’s partner principal preparation master’s programs. Dallas ISD partners with three university master’s degree programs: The Texas Principal Leadership Academy at the University of Texas at Austin, the Future Leaders Academy at the University of North Texas at Dallas and the Aspiring Leaders Program at Southern Methodist University.
