Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, 6th through 12th grade courses identified as “Pre-AP” will be known as “Honors” courses. The Board of Trustees approved the name change recently to comply with College Board regulations. Mitch Morken, director of Advanced Academic Services for Dallas ISD, emphasized that the course content will remain the same; only the name is changing. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Dallas ISD Teen School Board held its first community service project of the 2020-2021 school year. The goal of the project, led by Teen School Board Community Service Chair Ethan Tolentino, was to create desks for underserved students throughout Dallas ISD. The event took place at the Career Institute North facility, as teachers, administrators, and other staff joined in with the Teen School Board representatives to lend a helping hand. Fifteen-year-old Zimaya Propes fits the description of a natural-born athlete. Throughout her school career, Propes has played basketball, volleyball, and run track.
