Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools, recently recognized four Dallas ISD campuses. Among the four, three schools won the National Magnet School of Distinction award and one school was named a National Merit School of Excellence. Congratulations to CityLab High School for participating in and advancing a team to the “Speak Up Speak Out” state competition, which will be held on March 6 in Austin. After identifying a problem in the Dallas community and presenting their solution to judges in January, the advancing team will move to the next part of the competition and continue developing their idea with a chance to win seed money. The South Oak Cliff Golden Bears continue to be recognized for their historic win of the UIL Class 5A Division II Football State Championship. During the January board meeting, the Golden Bears were officially recognized by Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stephanie Elizalde, and the Board of Trustees for their back-to-back state championship.
