Dallas ISD continues progress on 2026 Bond

By The Hub on July 14, 2026 News
After Dallas ISD’s historic 2026 Bond Program passed, district leaders thanked voters, families, team members, and the community for investing in the future of every student across the district.

The next morning, district teams immediately began the work of turning the community’s vision into reality.

To help the community better understand what comes after the approval of the bond program, here’s a look at the next steps in the implementation process.

What happens now

Dallas ISD is currently beginning the process of developing a comprehensive implementation timeline for projects included in the 2026 Bond Program.

At the same time, Dallas ISD is soliciting architects and project management firms and plans to have these teams on board during the fall semester. The district has issued several Requests for Qualifications for program management firms. These firms bring expertise in overseeing the planning, design, scheduling, and construction of large-scale bond programs. Following the RFQ process, district administration will make recommendations to the Board of Trustees, which will provide final approval for selected firms.

What happens next

Once program management firms are approved, Dallas ISD will begin selecting architecture firms for projects across the district. The Board of Trustees will also provide final approval for architectural partners selected to support the bond program.

Throughout the process, Dallas ISD will engage families, educators, students, team members, and community members through a series of meetings and input sessions. These meetings will allow stakeholders to share feedback on school designs, learning environments, career and technical education opportunities, safety enhancements, athletic improvements, and other campus priorities included in the bond program.

The district will also host community meetings and provide regular updates to ensure the community remains informed as projects move forward.

When construction could begin

District leaders anticipate that the initial planning and design phases will begin immediately following the selection of program management and architectural firms.

After architects are under contract, the design process for projects is expected to take several months, followed by the contractor procurement and bidding phase required under state procurement laws and Board policies.

As projects progress through planning and design, the first phase of construction is expected to begin on a staggered timeline to ensure the district can effectively manage the size and scope of the historic bond program. Based on the assessment, the district  is using a data driven approach to guide us to the schools most in need starting first.

A strategic construction schedule

Construction projects included in the 2026 Bond Program will begin in phases rather than all at once for several important reasons.

First, Dallas ISD must carefully manage cash flow associated with bond sales to maintain the district’s strong financial position while ensuring projects are delivered responsibly and efficiently.

Additionally, staggering projects helps ensure the availability of qualified contractors, architects, and skilled labor necessary to complete projects at the highest quality standards.

This phased approach will allow Dallas ISD to successfully deliver transformational improvements across the district while minimizing disruptions to students and school operations.

Bond information

The Dallas ISD 2026 Bond Program represents a transformational investment in schools, students, and communities across the district. The program includes campus improvements, modernized learning spaces, safety and security enhancements, technology upgrades, career and technical education investments, and projects designed to support student success for generations to come.

Additional information, project details, timelines, and future community meeting dates will be shared by Dallas ISD as implementation moves forward. You can also stay connected by going to the Bond website at bond.dallasisd.org.
