Paint brushes in hand and fun facts at the ready, students at Henry B. Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy are getting ready for the FIFA World Cup.
Through a campus-wide social studies project, every classroom and office transformed into a different country to teach elementary students about global perspective, just in time for the World Cup arriving in Dallas.
“Through project-based learning in a personalized learning environment, students make meaningful real-world connections while exploring different cultures, traditions, customs, and languages,” John Paul Noel-Morgan, principal, said. “Experiences connected to global events like the World Cup help broaden students’ perspectives and strengthen their understanding of being part of a global community.”
Through interactive presentations, students are researching and showcasing nations from all over the world, including their customs, traditions, cuisine, and more.
All 28 classrooms designed custom T-shirts and banners for an upcoming World Cup parade, giving students a chance to showcase their insights.
