State Fair of Texas awards more than $500,000 in college scholarships to graduating seniors

Big Tex wrote some more big checks for students: A total of 85 graduating seniors from six Dallas ISD high schools received more than $500,000 in college scholarships from the State Fair of Texas.

The State Fair of Texas Pete Schenkel Scholarship awards outstanding seniors from six Dallas ISD high schools surrounding the State Fair of Texas. The students each received $6,000 scholarships in recognition of their academic performance and class ranking. The scholarships are named for former State Fair of Texas chairman Pete Schenkel.

Dallas ISD awards $155,000 in Superintendent’s Scholarships to 62 graduating seniors

The scholarship recipients are:

Franklin D. Roosevelt High School

Alisha Gilstrap, Jennifer Lopez, Arcadio Maciel, Juanita Nicolas, Tayla Smith, Torri Smith, and Cortnie Williams

Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School

Nathalie Chavez, Diana De La Paz, Nayeli De Leon, Mirka Estrada, Vanessa Guel Guerrero, Jacqueline Hernandez, Yuliana Hernandez, Veronica Ledezma, Joanna Marquez,  Alexandra Mendoza, Jerusalen Olivarez, Vanessa Portugal, America Rodriguez, Kaylee Rojas, Paola Rojas, Htee Shee, Nancy Tapia, Juliza Vidales, and Yesenia Villalobos

Lincoln High School

Micah Blanton, Jamondra Glennn, Kevion Graham, Jadia Jackson, Jadarion Jenkins, Naomi Jones, Riane Meekins, Jonathan Palma, Cintya Pineda, Zidyriun Robertson, Jamie Shaw, Zyriah Simmons, Ahreal White, and Tress Wright
