New ‘peace pantry’ opens up at Geneva Heights to feed a need

Built on the success of a “peace pantry” stocked with canned food that benefits students and their families at Woodrow Wilson High School, a new one has started this school year at nearby Geneva Heights Elementary School.

Teachers help identify students whose families would benefit from a gift of food, and on Friday the students take home bags filled with food, prepared by volunteers.

The community has embraced the idea, with children collecting canned goods for the pantry. Check out the full story from CBS 11 here.

Geneva Heights, formerly Robert E. Lee Elementary, is also officially becoming an International Baccalaureate school.
