Pilot internship program with Capital One provides students with meaningful experiences

As part of Capital One’s Future Edge DFW initiative, Capital One  teamed up with NAF and the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) for the NAF Future Ready Lab pilot, an innovative internship concept designed to scale the quantity of meaningful internship experiences. The program gave 20 Dallas ISD high school students in NAF academies the opportunity to prepare for future careers.

The internships lasted June 12–30. During this time, they developed ready-to-execute concepts for a large-scale community event for Capital One to organize in the local market later in the year. Event categories included transportation for the future, partnering technology with architecture for public spaces, envisioning new solutions to community challenges, and bringing to life the magic of cinema.

During the internship, students worked with Capital One teams who were experts in event management, public relations, social media, marketing, finance and technology and used these principles while developing their presentations. Final presentations were made to a judging panel on June 30.
