    Spend the next 119 seconds catching up on many of the great things that happened across the district this week!

    The Seuss is loose

    Schools across Dallas ISD honored the legacy of late children’s author Dr. Seuss with readings and special visits from leaders of the district, city and community. (See photos from the day)

    Single-gender celebration

    Parents and staff gathered for the naming ceremony and celebration for the Young Men’s Leadership Academy at Fred Florence Middle School, the district’s newest single-gender school for boys. (Learn more)

    New choice schools and programs

    Dallas ISD’s Office of Transformation and Innovation announced a new choice school and pilot program slated for the 2017-2018 school year, as well as a new choice middle school opening for 2018-2019. (Read this)

    Read to the Final Four

    Four of our schools have advanced to the next round in the NCAA’s Read to the Final Four contest for third-graders. The bracket style tournament rewards students for reading outside of school. (See the schools)

    Food Festival

    About 150 Dallas ISD students tasted and rated approximately 65 food items being considered for next year’s cafeteria menu. (Watch the video)

    Gold Level Certification at Sunset

    A group of young entrepreneurs at Sunset High School has earned the campus a Gold Level Certification for their work operating and managing the school store. (Learn more)

    Winnetka robotics

    After participating in four VEX IQ competitions, the two Winnetka Elementary School robotics teams have a combined total of 13 trophies. (Read this)

    Here’s a list of some of the many college scholarships available to Dallas ISD students. (See the full list)

    Power of Public Schools

    Texas Public Schools Week is Feb. 27-March 3, which is a time to celebrate the role public schools play in setting students up for sucess. In recognition, watch this video to see what makes Dallas ISD so special. (Watch the video)
