Families in the Highland Hills area who are planning to attend the Mayor’s Back to School Fair on Friday, Aug. 5, have the option for free transportation from the Highland Hills Library courtesy of DART.
DART will offer free transportation from the Highland Hills Library to the event at Fair Park. The Highland Hills area was chosen for this transportation service to provide opportunity for families from the Education Corridor (between Paul Quinn College and UNT-Dallas) who would otherwise be limited by transportation. Additionally, these same residents will have an opportunity to learn more about DART’s Blue Line extension from Ledbetter to Camp Wisdom and UNT Dallas. The bus rides are offered in conjunction with Neighbor Up Dallas, a nonprofit working to bolster the Grow South initiative aiming to boost opportunities for residents in South Dallas.
DART is one of the sponsors of the Mayor’s Back to School Fair and will provide information to attendees of the fair from a DART Booth at Fair Park’s Automobile and Centennial Buildings. On Aug. 5, buses will depart from the Highland Hills Library at the following times: 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Return trips from Fair Park Station are scheduled for: 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled department time.
The 20th Mayor’s Back to School Fair is set for 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fair Park and offers free health screenings, community resources, school supplies for eligible families and much more! Visit www.mayorsbacktoschoolfair.com for information.
