When Stockard Middle School eighth-grader Jordan Lovelace dances, heads turn. He immediately captures the attention of everyone in the room. That’s exactly what happened when he auditioned for the School of American Ballet in January. His grace and technique not only won Lovelace one of 200 spots in the ballet company’s national summer intensive, but it also garnered him a scholarship to cover his tuition for the five-week program that begins in June. Valerie Waiters and team prepare and serve breakfast and lunch for 600 students and supper for 200. Woodrow Wilson senior Erin Choi’s hard work is paying off after she has won a State Fair of Texas Scholarship, a Superintendent’s Scholarship and the Joe May Scholarship. Her many hours of dedication and studying have propelled her to the head of the class at Woodrow. But her hard work isn’t all in the classroom. She has competed on the swim team, in mock trial and participated in the school’s show choir and theater program.
