Comerica Bank and its community partner KPMG’s Family for Literacy Dallas donated 4,000 new books to Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory School on Jan. 30. Former Texas Rangers infielder Michael Young also participated in the literacy event, helping Comerica and KPMG volunteers distribute books to more than 400 eighth-graders. See photos from the donation Comerica Bank’s Snider Plaza Banking Center hosted a new book drive Jan. 13-24 to benefit the nearby Franklin Middle School, which welcomed 350 displaced Cary Middle School students after the Oct. 20 tornado destroyed their campus.

Henry David Thoreau once said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” Thoreau’s commentary on the difference between eyesight and vision is Rafael Martinez’s reality. Martinez is a tenacious senior at Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship Academy who first learned about tenacity on his eleventh birthday when he was diagnosed with Stargardt, an eye disorder that causes vision loss.
