Campuses reopen after 2019 tornado
0In October 2019, a tornado outbreak in north Texas forever changed two Dallas ISD schools. Thomas Jefferson High School and Walnut Hill Elementary were severely damaged by an EF-3 tornado, impacting where students would physically learn over the next few years. After years of renovations, refurbishments and new additions, Thomas Jefferson High School and Walnut Hill International Leadership Academy are now complete, and students will return home to their respective schools to conclude the 2022-2023 school year. Trustees honored during School Board Recognition Month
0January is School Board Recognition Month and Dallas ISD is celebrating its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. The theme of this year’s School Board Recognition Month is “Forward, Together,” which highlights the collaboration among school leadership, teachers and parents on behalf of students. In 2022 under the board members’ leadership, Dallas ISD was given a B rating by the Texas Education Agency and won the 2022 District of Distinction Award from The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) for the second year in a row. Community to celebrate SOC’s historic win with parade
0The South Oak Cliff Golden Bears ended 2022 on a high note. For the second consecutive year, the Golden Bears are the UIL 5A, Division II Football State Champions. To celebrate, the community is invited to attend a celebratory parade to congratulate the team and the coaching staff for their accomplishment. The UIL Championship parade will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7. The route will begin at 10:30 a.m. at For Oak Cliff, 907 E.
