Dallas ISD Project SEARCH students achieve historic success
0While history doesn’t follow a set timeline, six students in Dallas ISD’s 18+ transition program are proving that hard work, planning, and dedication are the keys to success. “My future goal is to become an EMT,” Serenity H. said. “I never understood the role of an EMT until Project SEARCH gave me the opportunity to increase my skills by working on two ICU floors. Without it, and the people who believed and supported me, none of this would be possible.” Through the completion of Project SEARCH, a global program that assists students and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities…
Dallas ISD students explore heritage and community at cultural camp
0Through storytelling, arts and crafts, games, and literature, students in the American Indian Education program deepened their understanding of their native background this summer at Cultural Camp. “Before attending this camp, I didn’t know much about my tribe,” said Vincent, a rising freshman at Emmett J. Conrad High School. “I just showed up to powwows and danced in my regalia. I learned more about my history because of this experience, and it made me love my tribe more. By learning about other tribes, I can also help those who don’t know about theirs.” During camp, students learned about the various…

Dallas ISD will begin enforcing this law on the first day of school, August 12, to support consistency and readiness across campuses. “HB 1481 is about ensuring that students are focused, present, and…
Rangel students embrace the world through study abroad
0When Esmeralda C. decided to travel more than 5,000 miles to Rome, Italy, and study Italian Language and Culture, she never expected it to be one of the most surreal and fulfilling experiences she has had. Along with nine other students from Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, Esmeralda ventured abroad to explore leadership and build global connections through international study. “Spending four weeks in Italy gave me the opportunity to build a strong sense of community with the locals,” she said. “Hearing the daily ‘ciao’ at coffee shops, restaurants, and from neighbors, conversations with my host family at…
