Dallas ISD unveils innovative student-operated food truck, a Texas First
0Dallas ISD, in partnership with Intuit, a financial software company, unveiled a student-designed and operated food truck, a first-of-its-kind program in Texas. “Students in multiple career pathways will gain hands-on learning experience as they develop and apply technical, financial, and entrepreneurship skills,” Oswaldo Alvarenga, deputy chief of Dallas ISD Strategic Initiatives said. This new offering will engage Career and Technical Education (CTE) students by providing practical experience and hands-on learning opportunities. Sunset High School cheer squad welcomes the new year at London parade
0Four students from Sunset High School’s cheerleading team celebrated the arrival of 2024 in London at the city’s New Year’s Eve parade, an opportunity afforded them as members of the Universal Cheerleaders Association’s (UCA) All American: Varsity Spirit team. For two students, this trip was their first time out of the country, and for the others it was their first time on an airplane.“It was an opportunity not just to stay somewhere in the U.S., but to go to a different country. 0January is School Board Recognition Month and Dallas ISD is celebrating all nine Trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students. The theme of School Board Recognition Month 2024 is “Locally Elected, Community Connected,” which highlights the connection between school trustees and their communities.
