Hawthorne Elementary receives Power Up donation from Softchoice
0Students at Dallas ISD’s Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School got a nice surprise on Friday, Jan. 27 – a donation of 70 laptops for students to use in their classrooms. The Softchoice Cares POWER UP grant is valued at $10,000, and funded the purchase of enough Lenovo laptops for each Hawthorne student in grades 3-5 to have one to use in their classes. 0Dallas ISD’s Transformation Schools offer specialized academic programming, similar to magnet schools. Unlike magnet schools, Transformation Schools do not have any academic entry requirements — they are open enrollment for all students across the entire district, regardless of academic ability. Candidates for the Board of Trustees must file by Feb. 17
0Candidates planning to run for election to the Dallas ISD School Board of Trustees have until Friday, Feb. 17, to submit their filing packets to secure a place on the ballot. Three seats are up for election: District 2, North and Near East Dallas, currently represented by Dustin Marshall District 6, Southwest Dallas, currently represented by Joyce Foreman District 8, Love Field, Northwest Dallas and Central Dallas, currently represented by Miguel Solis.
