Application window open for Two-Way Dual-Language program
0Dallas ISD’s Two-Way Dual-Language program creates global citizens every day by providing students with the opportunity to learn two languages. The application window for a student to enroll in the Two-Way Dual-Language program is open through Jan. 31. In the program, English speakers can learn Spanish and Spanish speakers can learn English. Rhonda Edmundson is a parent of sixth-grade twins who’ve attended a Two-Way Dual-Language program since early childhood. Hillcrest High School community to receive bond program updates on Jan. 10
0On Tuesday, January 10, parents and community members served by Hillcrest High School will have another opportunity to review the bond program improvements planned for their school. A community meeting is set for the campus at 6 p.m., Jan. 10, as a follow up to an initial feedback session held in August. Bond program architects and project managers are holding similar meetings at schools across the district to check in with stakeholders. The Construction Services department is working to ensure that improvements meet the needs identified as most important by staff and community members. Dallas ISD joins other districts across the state in recognizing the work of its board. School boards are charged with establishing a vision for a district’s education program, designing a structure to achieve that vision, ensuring that schools are accountable to the community, and strongly advocating continuous improvement in student learning. Data shows Dallas ISD retaining a strong majority of its highly effective teachers
0New data shows that Dallas ISD is retaining a strong majority of its highly effective teachers. The Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI) identifies, supports and rewards effective teaching. There are seven current effectiveness levels under TEI: Unsatisfactory, No Level, Progressing I and II, Proficient I, II, and III, and Exemplary I and II. Data shows that the teachers who earned a 2016-2017 effectiveness level of Proficient II or above, 93 percent were still with the district as of Sept. 1.
