More employees believe Dallas ISD is heading in the right direction, highest in four years

Dallas Independent School District campus employees are more confident in the direction of the district than they have been in the last four years, according to the most recent survey. On the Fall 2016 Campus Climate Survey, more than 73 percent of school staff said they believe the district is headed in the right direction. The response marks a more than 10 percentage point increase and is the highest since 2013. The Dallas ISD United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Workplace Campaign kicked off on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The campaign is an opportunity for district employees to donate to scholarships to help deserving Dallas ISD seniors of all races attend college. Dallas ISD campus employees can donate to the campaign by contacting their campus or department’s UNCF Representative. This year’s UNCF Workplace Campaign theme is Dollars for $cholars, and the goal this year is to raise $50,000. Throughout February, Dallas ISD is celebrating Black History Month. In 1926, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History founded Black History Week, which later grew into Black History Month. Schools this month will be full of music, exhibits, dance, and special speakers highlighting Black History Month 2017. A sampling of the events, many of which are open to the public, is listed below.
