Students tackle issue of school vouchers in Mayor’s Cup debate
0Four Dallas ISD students competed in the Inaugural Mayor’s Cup on April 27, hosted by Mayor Mike Rawlings and the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance. The topic for debate was to discuss how education vouchers leave the most needy students behind. Students debating in support of the statement were Kathy Nguyen, North Dallas High School; and Victor Peña, Thomas Jefferson High School. Debating against the statement were Ricardo Rodriguez, W.T. White High School; and Sophie Rahman, School of Science and Engineering. The competition judges picked Nguyen and Peña as the winners. Future Campus Leaders program helps prepare potential school administrators
0Fifty-five Dallas ISD teachers and instructional coaches finished off a year of leadership development by successfully presenting on a real-world scenario that a campus leader could face. The Future Campus Leaders (FCL) program was designed to provide a development opportunity for campus employees who have a desire to serve in a formal campus administrator role as a part of their career path. Report: Dallas ISD has six of 10 best public high schools in North Texas
0Dallas ISD is home to six of the 10 best public high schools in North Texas, according to a new report from a Texas-based non-profit that researched and ranked 211 public high schools from nine area counties. Additionally, the report from Children at Risk found that Dallas ISD is home to the best middle school in North Texas—William B. Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted.
