KinderCamp kicks off Dallas ISD kindergarten enrollment

Schools throughout Dallas ISD hosted KinderCamp on Friday, April 20 to begin enrolling students for kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents of incoming kinder and first grade students had the opportunity to learn about curriculum for those grades, and the advantages that an early education offers students. KinderCamp also included meeting the teachers, visiting classrooms, and an ice cream social. To continue preparing for a smooth transition to kindergarten, Dallas ISD students currently enrolled in pre-k, can attend a summer camp from June 11– 28. The Women LEAD (Learn, Excel, Achieve, Dream) scholarship program awarded 10 outstanding Dallas ISD seniors with a total of $40,000 in college scholarships. Founded in 2013 by the Junior League of Dallas in collaboration with Mary Kay Inc., the Women LEAD scholarship program assists female high school students in pursuing their dreams of higher education and to create opportunities for future women leaders. Dallas ISD trustees were briefed on a proposed long-term strategy to make Dallas ISD fiscally sustainable and support initiatives proven to boost student achievement.
