Parents invited to Meet the Teacher night at their child’s school
0Parents are invited to visit their child’s campus and meet the teachers before the first day of school. The Meet the Teacher/Open House nights are: Tuesday, Aug. 14: Middle Schools Wednesday, Aug. 15: High Schools Thursday, Aug. 16: Elementary Schools Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s school to find out the exact time of the open houses. Teachers will share information such as class schedules, drop off and pick up procedures, school hours, and much more. The first day of school is just around the corner, as classes begin Monday, Aug. 20.
District proposes plan to provide additional resources to most at-need schools
0Dallas ISD leadership briefed trustees on a proposal that would provide additional resources to about 20 of the district’s most at-need schools. Under the proposal, the Funds for Achievement and Racial Equity (FARE) would provide an additional $245 per student at the most at-need schools. Each school’s principal would propose how to use that funding to boost student achievement and infrastructure needs, and district leadership would then review and approve the proposal. Special ceremony welcomes hundreds of bus drivers new to Dallas ISD
0A special ceremony on Aug. 8 welcomed hundreds of bus drivers to Dallas ISD. Dallas ISD is running its own transportation this school year after Dallas County residents voted Nov. 7 to dissolve Dallas County Schools (DCS). Previously, Dallas ISD contracted with DCS, a taxpayer-funded agency, to bus students. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa thanked the bus drivers and mechanics—many of whom previously worked with DCS—for their professionalism and eagerness to safely transport students. “Our school board, our district, and the entire City of Dallas is indebted to your service,” Hinojosa said.
