0While teaching math at Kennedy-Curry Middle School, Annette Powers kept encountering students from J.N Ervin Elementary School unable to add, subtract or multiply. Dallas ISD announces several interim leadership changes
0Dallas ISD officials announced on Friday several interim leadership changes to ensure the district is positioned for continued significant progress. The position of Deputy Superintendent, which had been held by Israel Cordero prior to his resignation on Sept. 20, will become the Chief of Strategic Initiatives. Brian Lusk, who has a long history of success in Dallas ISD and most recently served as Dallas ISD Deputy Chief of School Leadership, will serve as Acting Chief of Strategic Initiatives. Two new early college high schools to open next school year
0Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) are planning to open early college high schools inside Skyline High School and North Lake College next school year. District officials briefed trustees in September about the growth and future plans of the district’s Early College High School (ECHS) and Pathways to Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) programs. Dallas ISD and the DCCCD currently operate 23 ECHS/P-TECH programs where students can get up to 60 hours of college credit—or an associate degree—at no cost to them while still in high school.
