Tim Brown, an NFL Hall of Famer and Woodrow Wilson alum, is hosting the 2015 Tim Brown/Woodrow Wilson Golf Tournament benefitting the Woodrow Wilson High School Athletics Program. The event is set to open at 11 a.m. today at the Tenison Park Highlands Course and is open to individuals, teams or groups competing in four-person Florida Scramble. The $200 entry fee covers cart fees, range balls, lunch, refreshments and prizes, a chance at a $10,000 hole-in-one contest, and an awards reception and auction. Dallas ISD has the most high-performing and high-progress low-income schools in Texas, according to a report issued Thursday by the Texas Education Agency. The TEA report listed 25 Dallas ISD schools among the top 400 high-performing and high-progress Title I schools in Texas for 2014–15. Bryan Adams student Guadalupe Serrato wrote this article. Dominique Nicole James this week became the first ever Bryan Adams High School student to be awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to 1,000 students nationwide each year and will cover her entire tuition at any university in which she is accepted. “I set myself up to be prepared in case I didn’t get it, so I was totally surprised when I learned that I had been awarded the scholarship,”James said. The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees today is holding a special meeting to consider and take possible action regarding the employment of Superintendent Mike Miles. The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Ada L. Williams Auditorium, 3700 Ross Ave. The board is expected to retire to a closed session for discussion. Any action will be taken in open session.
