Dallas ISD will host an interactive reading event for children and their families on Saturday, March 24, at W.H. Adamson High School. The event will feature more than 40 different sessions for children of all ages and their parents. Also included will be free breakfast and lunch and free books to take home. Attending the event is also free, but those who wish to go are encouraged to register here to ensure there are plenty of resources for everyone. The webpage also features a video and downloadable brochure listing the planned sessions.

More than 300 Dallas ISD high school juniors and seniors participated in workshops and interviews with local companies to help them secure paid summer internships. The students learned tips from company representatives and former interns, and then sat down one-on-one to interview for internships with companies such as Capital One, Verizon, Hilton and others. Durante una reunión que se realizó en Kimball High School, U. Renee Hall, jefa del Departamento de Policía de Dallas, tuvo la oportunidad de hablar con las alumnas y animarles a que logren su máximo potencial. When the Carter High School boys basketball team takes on Seminole High School in San Antonio on Friday in the state tournament semifinals, five seniors will be leading the way. These Carter seniors watched from the bench two years ago when the team lost in the playoffs to Lincoln, who then went on to win the state tournament. Clothes, food and household essentials provided by Buckner International fill a normally empty room at Stephen Foster Elementary School. The room was twice as full earlier this week, but students and families have steadily taken and used these essentials while their homes remain without gas or water due to the recent gas leaks in the area. As students and teachers make their way back to classes this week in Parkland, Florida, the community is adjusting to their new normal.  Memorials and vigils continue, as leaders of some of the nation’s largest police agencies and community members join in a summit to address school safety.
