A Dallas ISD recruitment fair attracted 807 attendees to apply for on-campus positions. More than 100 assistant principals and principals gathered at Skyline High School on Thursday to carry out on-site interviews with jobseekers. After8ToEducate wants to improve the lives of homeless youth by providing immediate assistance for their most pressing needs. Teens and young adults who are facing homelessness can get a free snack and utilize individual showers, computers, laundry services and temporary storage lockers at the Fannie C. Harris Youth Center (FCHYC), which is housed in the formerly vacant Fannie C. Harris Elementary School. The Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department officially celebrated its summer meals kickoff at the Dallas Zoo on June 14. The theme for this year’s initiative is “Wild About Summer Meals,” which was designed to be a fun way to bring awareness to the Summer Meals Program while enjoying the various animals and exhibits at the zoo. The on-time bus arrival rate increased to 95 percent by the end of the school year, according to a report shared with Dallas ISD trustees on June 13. Dallas ISD started running its own transportation system for the first time this past school year after Dallas County residents voted to dissolve Dallas County Schools (DCS), the taxpayer-funded agency that Dallas ISD contracted with to bus students.
