In the wake of school closings related to the spread of COVID-19, Dallas ISD is cancelling all bond community meetings and bond-related events scheduled the week of March 23-March 28. The cancellations include the Sat., March 28, ribbon-cutting at Hillcrest High School, the Bond 2020 community meetings and the community conversations hosted by the Racial Equity Office. Starting on Monday, March 23, meals will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the entrance of selected schools while the district remains closed. Go here to see a current list of the schools. Please note, this list will likely be updated before Monday, March 23. Each Monday and Thursday, FCNS will provide several days of breakfast and lunch per student. The students need to accompany the parents to be eligible to pick up the meals. Dallas ISD considers the health and safety of our staff and students our top priority. The district has been closely monitoring the Novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19, outbreak. Pending board approval, beginning March 23, 2020, the Dallas ISD has suspended standard district operations due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. This emergency has resulted in a districtwide closure resulting in a districtwide Extended Emergency Leave. To slow the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the community, all Dallas ISD schools will close indefinitely. This action follows advice from the Dallas County Health and Human Services department (DCHHS). We recognize the significant impact this extended closure will have on the entire community, especially families who depend on the district for critical services. Dallas ISD Youth and Family Centers are open this week to serve students for sick care visits. Any student who has symptoms including cough, fever, and/or respiratory issues can be served by the local Youth and Family Center clinic. Families with a student showing these symptoms are asked to call ahead and book an appointment at a center rather than sit in the waiting room. Trained medical professionals are at the Youth and Family Centers to assist sick students. Durante Spring Break, el Departamento de Alimentos y Nutrición Infantil (FCNS por sus siglas en inglés) de Dallas ISD está ofreciendo a estudiantes comidas gratuitas, para llevar, en 20 escuelas seleccionadas. The Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department is currently scheduled to offer free meals at 20 select campuses over Spring Break. The meals are available for all students through age 18 and special needs students regardless of age. Students can pick up the meals from the participating schools and then eat them off site.
